This series first aired first October 3, 2008 after the movie the Star Wars Clone Wars which was released in theaters. This was then adapted for the cartoon network. The series takes place between Star Wars episode 2 and Star Wars episode 3 and sort of fills the gap between those 2 movies. Episodes last about 22 minutes in length to help fill a half hour time slot.
At least 100 episodes have been planned for the series regardless of the ratings so that should equal about 5 seasons of Star Wars the Clone Wars. Some have called this series likely the most photo-realistic animated TV series ever produced.
